The upcoming Modern Warfare 3 patch will incorporate a solution for the damage proficiency exploit. Infinity Ward is actually aware about the glitch and is just not only fixing it with the next patch (1.08), they happen to be already working on banning gamers who are using it.
Robert Bowling, creative strategist at Infinity Ward, stated that “the damage proficiency exploit is already fixed in the next patch.”
“We’re now tracking anyone abusing it and will ban offenders.” Bowling proceeded to explain, “the exploit allowed you to assign Damage proficiency to primary weapon classes that didn’t have it available. No way to do it by accident.”
Modern Warfare 3 title update #8 or patch 1.08, is going to be ready for download sometimes before the end of January.

How can you be banned for something THEY messed up on. Sure we exploit it to have the upper hand, but you cant seriously punish us for something IW screwed up on. I have played plenty of games where glitches have been exploited and have been patched but no one banned. I can understand reseting someones stats becuase those stats were not acheived legitimatlly. If it comes down to being banned from online play, have it be temporarily or permanently, I assure you many will quit playing your crappy games, that they released half finished. My opinion, it seems you put no effort in finding these glitches and patching them before releasing the game. Again all this is just my opinion all of you can debate this as much as you want. BUT I dont feel us players should be punished for an exploit you failed to fix. Just patch the damn thing it put it behind.
I use the damage glitch for a good day but after seeing how overpowered it was i just took it off, like seriously the mk14 is a sniper with an ironsite i agree with the banning if people are going to exploit it like they've been doing they deserve to get punished in some kind of way.
get over it, war is not fair so why you gonna ban people who are only doing what happens in real life? war isnt fair and niether is life. get used to it mother fuckers….
