There has been much speculation if quick-scoping will be back for MW3. It was just recently confirmed by Robert Bowling, creative strategist at Infinity Ward for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. On his recent MW3 Q&A session he had the following answer for will there be quick-scoping in MW3?
“Currently, you can still quick scope in Modern Warfare 3. Keep in mind though, multiplayer is always changing at this stage (new perks, new balancing, new everything all the time based on feedback), however our philosophy on that hasn't changed since MW2”
He does confirm its return; however it’s unclear in what form or its effectiveness.
If you've been playing modern warfare 2, then it is likely that you have witnessed a quick scope. A quick scope utilizes a sniper rifle (intervention or .50 cal) to kill someone at close to midrange. The usually way to kill someone with a sniper rifle is to look down the scope, and wait for targets to enter your crosshairs. Quick scoping, on the other hand, does not require the need to look down the scoop. The snipers will typically run around, with the sniper in hand, an attempt to kill you without looking down the scope. By hitting the scope button it thinks you’re looking down the scope even though you are not and it takes away the bullet spread so you won’t miss at closer ranges.
To set you your class for quick scope you will need the following:
Primary Weapon: Barret .50 Cal or Intervention
Perk 1: Sleight Of Hand Pro
Perk 2: Stopping Power Pro
Perk 3: Steady Aim Pro
Although it will be a different set up for Modern Warfare 3 as it was confirmed that stopping power will not make a return in MW3. Will have all the details on Quick Scope as it becomes available.
