This week Activision revealed information on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's "Content Season", a 9 month schedule of downloadable content, between January and September with a minimum of 20 bits of DLC. The season of DLC will begin on January 24th for Xbox Live customers with premium Elite subscriptions. The very first 2 drops are multiplayer maps named Piazza and Liberation, each playable in multiplayer and Special Ops modes.
However for those people who don't have a paid Elite subscription, the new content will not be coming until March. On Twitter, Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling said, "ELITE subscribers get free monthly DLC content drops for #MW3. In March, the first paid collection of DLC comes out for non-subscribers."
Keep in mind, the collection of DLC in March will get more than the 2 maps Elite subscribers will be receiving later this month. Bowling explained “by the time the collection comes out, there will have been multiple drops. These two maps are just the first Jan drops.”
However, how may Elite factor into that? Xbox 360 paid Elite members are going to have first shoot with the newly announced DLC on January 24th, on the other hand how will Playstation 3 paid Elite subscribers squeeze in the scenario. Now, we have got confirmation directly from Activision’s Mikey Vega that MW3's DLC will certainly become accessible to PS3 Elite members prior to regular Xbox 360 owners. It needs to be mentioned that PC gamers remain in a hopeless situation without even having Elite service on PC.
Also remember, non Elite Xbox 360 gamers are going to have access to the DLC in March which means that PC and PS3 non Elite gamers may have to simply wait until April to buy the first collection, due to the time-based exclusivity deal that Call of Duty has with Xbox.
